If FEMA Can Do It......
Worried about my thesis proposal....scheduled to face my faculty panel in 2 weeks.
Suddenly, I realize...I'll hold my own panel review!
Panel members attending: Krista, my neighbor Pam, and Eleanor the Wonder Dog.
Happy to report that my Proposal passed with flying colors!! (Ellie quoted as saying I did a "heck of a job").
YEAH for me....no more worries :)

Take Time
Went through my "photo collection" last night....you know you have one-that box crammed full of loose pictures that you have been promising to put into photo albums.
Amazing....memories
Amazing....memories
Funny how the outside changes, but the inside remains the same.
Do the people who made you smile years ago, still bring that smirk today? Pull out your "collections"....take time to smile (from the inside).

Ask and Ye Shall Receive
Following the lead of Alaska Commuter:
"For the first three people that reply to me and re-post this challenge, I will send you something.
It might be something I’ve made, or something cool from my hidden stash, it might be a mix CD, or a rubber duck, a book I think you will enjoy, or something else that is awesome.
Whatever it is, I promise that I will get it to you in 365 days or less.
The only thing you need to do in order to participate is to be one of the first three to reply to this, AND post this very same thing on YOUR blog - cause it’s fun to give people stuff."

Team Hillary Event
I attended a Hillary fundraiser in Charlottesville last Sunday. It was an intimate conversation between Hillary and John Grisham-very enjoyable event and a chance to see the Senator up close and personal! My buddies Lee, Anthony, and I made a fun day of it and thought it was way cool to be involved in the campaign circuit. (Our only regret was that we could not splurge for the private wine & cheese reception beforehand!)
You can see much better pics than mine on the web, taken at this event-check them out here. Remember to make your voice heard in the next Presidential election-get out and get involved now!

Tunes and TV
I'm hooked on a new song I heard playing on an episode of Damages last week.....it's a remake of Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun"...sung by Greg Laswell. Check it out....beautifully done.
Anyone seen Damages? It's a new legal thriller on FX starring Glen Close...I'm really enjoying it.

Easy Come, Easy Go
Well-made it back from the big sinful city. Couldn't have asked for a better week....where else can I unload my bankroll and witness the largest Star Strek Convention all in one place??
My favorites absolutely included KA and Casino War at O'Sheas.
By the way-a special thanks goes out to my buddy who recommended the single deck blackjack at Binions (yes, I'm talking to you, lil' Max!). As soon as I save up enough money for a return trip, I will be returning to retrieve my ass that I left there!
I am upset that I missed seeing Hillary, who was just a few blocks away for a speaking engagement at the NABJ Convention.

Off to Sin City!
Leaving in a couple of hours to hit one of my favorite vacation spots! Probably won't be blogging for a few days, but I'm sure I will have plenty to report when I get back (including pics of the Star Trek Convention which just happens to be there this week.....good grief!) Look out Vegas-here we come!!!!

Houston, Wii Have a Problem
Hello-my name is FlyRN and I'm a Wii-a-Holic. It has been almost 48 hours since I purchased my Wii and productivity as I once knew it (sort of), has ceased. I am obsessed with everything about this machine. I fear that once I download the old-school NES games, I may never leave the basement again.
Friends-please feel free to keep in touch (and by keep in touch, I mean come by and join me in a 2-player Wii challenge....3 player once Miss Ellie fine tunes her nunchuck skills).
If you haven't tried this awesome gadget, please grab one or come on over to my place. I've got a Wii Match waiting for you. (Besides-who needs sunshine and outdoors anyway??) :)

My New Hangout
Just stumbled across a hip place to hangout (it was my lunch break, I swear!) Check out the groovy fun and new libations at Tiki Bar TV. It's been around for a while, but I have somehow missed this vidcast watering hole. Pull up a chair and join me!

Horse & Hound Wine Festival
We had an awesome day at the Peaks of Otter Winery yesterday. The pups especially had a big time while we sampled the grapes. Here they are seeking shade beneath a taster's chair-Eleanor and Theodore are quite the pair!

Ready, Set, Don't Go!
Here is a picture of the awesome window seat that I should have occupied on my way to Puerto Plata last Thursday. However, thanks to Delta,
I spent a non-expense paid night in Greensboro and missed an entire day with my buddies (that's valuable Wizard time, folks!)
In spite of the rough start-great times eventually followed...stay tuned for more vacation updates.

Peaks of Otter Winery
We joined the gang at the winery for a cookout to welcome all of the volunteers for the upcoming Horse & Hound Wine Festival. The scenery was gorgeous and the wine not only excellent but free-flowing! The pups even had their first introduction to the house piglets....the jury is still out on that!

Welcome to Modern Media
NEW YORK — Radio host Don Imus apologized Friday for calling the Rutgers University women's basketball team "nappy headed hos" on his nationally syndicated program.
The National Association of Black Journalists demanded his immediate firing after the man known as "Imus in the Morning" put his foot deep in his mouth Wednesday. Imus questioned the players' looks, describing them as tattooed "rough girls." His producer compared the team _ which has eight black members _ to the NBA's Toronto Raptors.
Near the start of Friday's show, Imus said he wanted to "apologize for an insensitive and ill-conceived remark we made the other morning referring to the Rutgers women's basketball team."
"It was completely inappropriate, and we can understand why people were offended. Our characterization was thoughtless and stupid, and we are sorry."
